Today over at Intentional Stewardship I share more about what God did in my heart as a parent and wrap up my two-part series on this idea of “expanding the borders of our families.” The post features one of my favorite photos of my friend Ansley with her sponsored child, Lucy, taken by my photog friend Donna. The previous year, Ansley had been instrumental in saving Lucy’s life from a gangrenous wound. She brought it to our attention and stayed by Lucy’s side all week. After that week, she faithfully pursued getting Lucy into the sponsorship program, became her sponsor, and has since visited her twice. These girls are tight. The smiles on their faces say it all.

In my last post, I talked about stewardship in adoption, and the idea that we can expand the borders of our families. I shared that during my adoption journey, I felt convicted that I was hoarding my parenting, keeping all my mommyness to my son when so many other kids needed a mommy to love them.
Well. In my journey toward adoption, I realized that I couldn’t adopt everyone who needed a family. I prayed that God would show me where to point this newfound passion for orphan care, and soon after praying that, I learned about child sponsorship. READ MORE
