Wildly Co. Ethical Children’s Clothing

Are you looking for Christmas ideas for your kids?  Today I’m so excited to introduce you to Hayley Morgan, who along with her husband Mike has created a fun new line of ethical children’s clothing!  Here’s what she has to say about Wildly Co.

Wildly Co. was created because we love families, we also know that kids go through a crazy amount of clothes. There wasn’t a one-stop shop where I knew we could buy clothes for our brood of boys that were reasonably priced, ethically made, and cute.

So, we set out to create something our family would love and that would benefit other families. It was also hugely important to us that we didn’t plan our business to be profitable on the back of another person’s hardship. We work only with partners we’ve personally met, and we can vouch for the conditions of their facilities and ethos of their companies. It’s imperative for us to have relationships with the people we’re partnering with.

Manufacturing in an ethical way was a maze to figure out. There is the overseas route which keeps labor costs down, but then you might have import taxes, long lead times, not to mention the fact that traveling to vet the facilities would add a costly premium to the sale price of the garment.

So, we landed, for now, manufacturing in a sleepy little town in North Carolina. There is a spunky woman named Molly who started a sewing shop, looking to revive the generations-old, but now dead or dying, North Carolina textile industry. She grew up in the town and hated to see the economic hardship that occurred as the fallout of companies chasing ever cheaper labor not even 20 years ago.

We believe in Molly, and she was the obvious choice as our first production partner for Wildly Co. We hope we can bring her shop lots of business and be part of all the dreams and plans we hear about when we stop in for a visit.

Because manufacturing in the States can be very expensive (and rightly so!), we decided early on that we’d produce the best of the basics, ethically made. We’d design stuff we want for our own kids, and we’d do it well. Wildly Co. is well-designed, well-made, and well-priced to make it an easy choice when it comes to kids’ clothes.

We have all kinds of fun ideas, but right now we’re working on this first capsule wardrobe. We make clothes that are impossible to mismatch so it’s easy for your wild ones to get dressed on their own. We are in production now and can’t wait to get the clothes out to all the wild kids out there.

Slave-Free Christmas Challenge:

This Christmas, I’ve challenged myself to shop my entire Christmas list from organizations that are helping people, not hurting people.  Today, 27 million men, women, and children live as someone else’s property.  Slaves are making the items that I’m buying to celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior.  Somehow I don’t think He’s blessed by the blood on His birthday presents.  For more information on my Slave-Free Christmas project, click here.  For featured companies from the last two years, click here.
