On today’s Lighten Up podcast I talk with maybe the most interesting person I’ve ever met. I got to interview Esther Emery about her new book, What Falls from the Sky. After her husband had an affair with her best friend, Esther moved across the country with her family and embarked on a year without the internet. She currently lives off the grid in a yurt in the mountains.
You guys, I love this book. It’s her story of finding God and finding herself, and I didn’t want it to end. It was such a treat to talk with her about everything, plus our backgrounds in theatre, feelings about eggnog, and more!

Recipe for ginger tea:
(Esther gives directions on the podcast, and as you know I’m not a cook scientist, but this is the basic gist.)
- Grate ginger.
- Boil it in water.
- Pour it through a strainer.
- Add fresh lemon juice and honey (from your own bees or someone else’s).

See “The Friendly Beasts” performed by puppets, because YouTube has everything.
As always, if I post an Amazon link and you click and buy something, I make several whole cents. Keeps the lights on around here. Well, keeps about one-quarter of one pixel on. Thanks in advance.
